The failure of the new wave of democratization in the Middle East has shown that the export of concepts and ideologies as well as their forcible introduction into other societies can lead to humanitarian catastrophes. This proves once again that values that have emerged and been successfully applied in different civilizations are often rejected by other civilizations causing a clash of civilizations. Unaccepted or disapproved concepts force society to tacitly reject the social contract which undermines the foundations of previously successfully functioning systems of regional and global security. In the context of the above we observe a trend of abandonment of existing alliances separatism and the emergence of new alliances that can significantly alter the balance of power in the region. Consociative democracy applied in multi-component societies can be seen as a concept for preventing genocides ethnic cleansing as well as armed separatism and likely conflict resolution. Providing national minorities with ample opportunities to participate in state governance can contribute to lasting peace in the region.
